Founding Member and Past President
Dawn Sheehan Lewis
dsheehan@wirep.com

Ms. Sheehan moved to Baltimore from Massachusetts at the age of 10. As a student at UMBC, Ms. Sheehan was the Writing Lab Supervisor, Student Representative of the Women’s Studies Coordinating Committee, and a tutor for the college, where the majority of those she tutored were ESL students. After graduating with a dual degree in English and Women’s Studies, Ms. Sheehan’s first job was as a ghost writer for government officials. Other positions included Supervisor and writer for a pharmaceutical company’s telephone inquiry line, Associate Director of Financial Aid for a local college, telemarketer and weekend leasing property manager. Once Dawn learned she could make a lot of money by just talking to people, she started her career in advertising sales with the Baltimore & Washington Business Journals, staying in the Top 25 across the country in sales and was a frequent speaker at their nationwide sales meetings. She then moved on to assist with the start up of SmartCEO and SmartWoman Magazines. Burned out from the advertising world, Dawn created her position with Express Auctions and brought in approximately $800,000 in commissions in less than 6 months, a record for any salesperson with the company. WIRE© was created in 2003 when Ms. Sheehan became aware that there was no women’s real estate networking group in the Greater Baltimore /DC Metro area. Today, WIRE© has over 100 members and has had many notable speakers, including Melanie Sabelhaus, former Deputy Administrator of the SBA, Maria Boren, a candidate from “The Apprentice,” and Wendy Blair, a prominent local female developer. Ms. Sheehan has been a guest auctioneer for MAREIA, the Historic Charles Street Association and some smaller organizations. She is a graduate of the Network 2000 Mentorship program, a member of the Center Club and on the committee for SmartCEO’s Bravo! Businesswomen awards. Additionally, she has been featured in Baltimore Magazine’s “Upfront” section, a guest bartender at the Center Club’s monthly Happy Hours, a guest speaker for Renovating Woman’s magazine’s DIY program, the Women’s Wine & Dine, and roundtable host for local real estate investment groups. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her pets and working out and is now happily married to her husband Earl Lewis.
