About WIRE
WIRE, the Women Investors of Real Estate Group, was founded October 23, 2003 in the conference room of the then Express Auction; now Excel Auction, www.ExcelAuction.com. Dawn Sheehan, Sales Coordinator for Express, brought together a group of women with very diverse professional backgrounds in real estate, but all had one thing in common: they were real estate investors who were passionate about women's evolving roles in real estate investing.
On this day, the group of women created a mission statement, scheduled their first speaker, and determined meeting dates, times, and chose to have the meetings at various locations throughout the greater Baltimore Metro area to promote the city and its counties. The first WIRE meeting was scheduled for December 3, 2004 and featured Anne Riggle, President, International Assets Group, LLC. Ms. Riggle was also named Chairperson of WIRE, and the positions of the Board Members were agreed upon.
To date, WIRE has grown to over 100 members, with plans to expand into other metro areas when the time arises.
Mission Statement
The Women Investors of Real Estate Group (WIRE) was created to provide a networking resource for women, to educate and provide valuable resources and speakers to aid women in a greater understanding of investing in residential and commercial real estate.
